It was a tough, hard fought season for our FALCON Football teams!
Through the season there was one impressive achievement from a familiar name at HFII. Alex Steinwascher set a school record for the longest Field Goal (51 yards) and, he set a MAC record at Runkle Field in the last game of the season against Ike when he needed to split the uprights twice to break an existing season record held by – a kicker from Ike. Of course he broke the MAC record with a 38 and a 21 yarder to close out the season!
In 2017 Alex S. was good on 11 of 13 attempts (an 84.6% result!), the 11 field goals on the 2017 season were from 44, 34, 27, 29, 25, 44, 48, 31, 21, 38 and of course, the 51 yarder! That is a total of 388 yards off that kicking foot or an average of 35.3 yards per kick. Pretty Impressive!
Football is a team sport and the field goals would not have been possible with the offense, the rest of the special teams and the coaches to get the special leg extended and the toes pointed between the up-rights! Well Done Alex!
